ALMEDA signs Memorandum of Understanding with AfLIA (African Library and Information Associations and Institutions)
We are delighted to announce that AfLIA (African Library and Information Associations and Institutions) and ALMEDA have formalised a collaboration in which ALMEDA will create an online course for AfLIA members titled ‘From Collections to Data Publications: a workflow for Librarians and Archivists’. The course aims to train librarians and archivists to publish datasets on materials of interest in their collections that are not captured in their cataloguing system. By publishing metadata about these collections as Open Data, the course aims to enable better accessibility of local collections.
A further ambition of the MoU is to collaborate on the development of an AI tool for enabling metadata creation on digitised assets.
